This guide summarises the rules used in North Sultan: Meydan. Meydan is a top-down, real-time team football game played on the great field outside the palace walls: 2v2, 3v3 or 4v4. The rules are applied automatically and equally by the game's engine, and our server runs every online match. There are no stakes in Meydan: nothing is put up in any match, nothing is paid to the winner and the loser loses nothing. Nothing with real money or monetary value can be won in the game. The game is for ages 13 and up.
1. Teams and pitch
- There are two teams: Lale (red, "tulip") and Çini (blue, "tile"). Each team has 2, 3 or 4 players; in a private room with friends you can also play 1v1.
- Everyone is the same token (pul): the same size, the same speed, the same kick. Kits, balls and effects that can be bought or unlocked by playing are cosmetic only; they never change anyone's speed, kick or size.
- The pitch is walled and the ball bounces off the walls. There are no throw-ins, corners, offside, fouls or cards. Players may lean on each other shoulder to shoulder; that is part of the physics. Goalkeeping is a role, not a rule: anyone can stand in goal.
- The pitch grows with the team size: 840 × 400 units in 2v2, 1080 × 500 in 3v3, 1300 × 600 in 4v4.
- Colour-blind mode uses orange instead of red and adds team glyphs; the Çini team's token rim is always a double line.
2. Time and score
- A match lasts 3 minutes (4 minutes in 4v4). The first team to 5 goals wins at once.
- The clock stops only during the goal celebration (2 seconds) and the kick-off setup; if the kick-off is not taken within 3 seconds, the clock runs again.
- When time is up, the team ahead wins. In a ranked match a level score goes to a Golden Goal: up to 90 seconds, the first goal wins; if nobody scores, the match is a draw. In Quick Match a level score is a draw.
- A team whose players have all left and not returned within 20 seconds loses 0–3; if it is already further behind, the score stands.
3. Kick-off
- The team that conceded kicks off. During "Ready" (0.8 seconds) everyone waits in place.
- Until the ball is first touched, everyone stays in their own half and the team not kicking off may not enter the centre circle. Invisible barriers on the pitch keep these lines.
4. Controls: VUR and PAS
- Stick: appears wherever you put your thumb on the left half of the screen and moves your token in that direction. A small push walks, a full push runs.
- VUR (kick): if the ball is within reach, it is kicked along the line from your token to the ball, so you aim the shot with your body. Hold the button and you kick the moment you touch the ball; a short tap stays valid for 8 ticks (about 0.13 seconds), so pressing a frame early is not punished. Each press is one kick, followed by a short cooldown. You move a little slower while VUR is held.
- PAS (assisted pass): goes to the best-placed teammate within a 35-degree cone in the stick's direction, with power scaled to the distance; if nobody is in the cone, the ball goes along the stick. The server computes the pass; an assisted pass never curls around opponents and is never better than a manual kick.
- In the settings you can switch to the Classic layout (VUR only), change the size and position of the buttons, and turn on the left-handed layout and "reduced motion". On a keyboard: WASD or the arrow keys to move, X or Space to kick, C to pass, 1–8 for quick chat.
- Curve (a bending kick) can only be switched on as an experiment in private rooms; it is not part of ranked or quick matches.
5. Statistics and player of the match
- Goal: credited to the last player to touch the ball if their team scored; an own goal is nobody's goal.
- Assist: credited to the teammate who touched the ball before the scorer (within 8 seconds). In Meydan an assist is worth the same as a goal: both earn the same experience points.
- Save: credited to the defender who stops an opponent's ball heading for goal.
- Player of the match: goals × 3 + assists × 3 + saves × 2 + a share for touches; it goes to whoever helped the team most, not to the top scorer.
6. Game modes
- Quick Match: 2v2, 3v3 or 4v4; alone or with a party of up to four friends. Seats not filled within 10 seconds are taken by computer players labelled "Yedek" (substitute); a Yedek is always labelled. Quick Match does not change your rating.
- Ranked: 3v3 (the main ladder) and 2v2; solo, duo or trio. A ranked match never starts with a computer player. If a player leaves, a labelled Yedek takes the seat so the others can finish. Ranked unlocks once you reach account level 5 and have played 10 Quick Matches.
- Friends Room: invite from your friends list; the host chooses the time (2–10 minutes), score limit, team size (1v1 to 4v4), Golden Goal and the kick-off barrier. Private rooms never count for rating, league or tournaments.
- Talim Meydanı (training): eight coaches, each with two short drills and a match against the coach's team; played offline. The coaches teach their skill and leave their own kit or look to whoever finishes. Talim stars are kept on your device.
7. Rating, league and tournaments
- Meydan Rating: you have a separate team rating for 3v3 and for 2v2 (Elo-like, starting at 1000; the first 10 matches are placement matches). Only ranked matches change it; the change depends on the rating difference between the teams. Your rating is shown with the tiers Acemi, Çırak, Kalfa, Usta, Ağa, Bey, Paşa and Vezir. Meydan Rating is never sold and no membership raises it.
- Matchmaking: ranked first looks for players with a similar rating and widens the range the longer you wait; teams are built so that their ratings balance. When a match is found you have 10 seconds to confirm "Ready?".
- If the same four or more accounts meet in the same ranked match more than three times within 24 hours, those matches do not count for rating, league or tournaments (to prevent arranged matches).
- Weekly league: matches earn weekly league points; rewards are cosmetic, such as frames and titles.
- Tournaments: the Daily Meydan Cup and the Weekend Cup; ranked matches collect tournament points. Entry is free, and rewards are only in-game cosmetics such as titles, frames and looks; no cash prize or prize with monetary value is given: Tournament Rules.
- Computer players never receive rewards, titles, rating or league standings; the result of a seat played by a Yedek changes nobody's rating.
8. Connection and leaving a match
- If your connection drops, your seat is held for 20 seconds; if you return in time (even after closing and reopening the app), you carry on where you left off. A player who stays away longer is replaced by a labelled Yedek.
- A player who gives no input for 15 seconds is also replaced by a Yedek, and this counts as leaving.
- Leaving a ranked match early is recorded as a loss and you cannot queue for ranked for a while: 5 minutes after the first exit in a week, 30 minutes after the second, 24 hours after any further exit. The leaver's teammates lose only half of the rating. No exit ever costs Gold (Altın) or any other in-game value.
9. Chat, voice and behaviour
- In a match you can talk to everyone with preset quick-chat lines (such as "Eline sağlık!" — well played, "Pas ver kardeşim!" — pass it, "Kaleye dön!" — back to goal) and emotes, with a short wait between messages.
- Free-text chat is available only in a party of friends and goes through the shared chat filter; for accounts aged 13–17 party chat is read-only.
- Voice chat exists only in parties and private friend rooms: everyone can listen, VIP members can speak. Voice is never available during ranked or quick matches and is never recorded.
- You can report and block any player after the match. The Community Guidelines apply to user names, profiles and friend messages.
10. Fair play
Meydan is a game of skill and teamwork; the result is decided by the players' movement and how well they play together. There is no power sold for money, no random reward box, no energy timer and no advertising; everyone is the same token. In online matches your app only sends the stick and button state; the server computes where the ball and the tokens go, the goals and the rules. Cheat software, automated playing tools, deliberately disrupting the connection, deliberate own goals and arranged matches are prohibited: Terms of Use, Community Guidelines.
