This guide summarises the rules used in North Sultan: Pişti. The game is classic Turkish pişti, the fishing card game played in coffee houses and homes across Türkiye. The rules are applied automatically and equally to everyone by our server. The game is for people aged 18 and over and for entertainment only: virtual chips have no monetary value and nothing of real money or monetary value can be won. North Sultan: Pişti uses the same North Sultan account as North Sultan: 101 Okey, North Sultan: Batak, North Sultan: Satranç, North Sultan: Okey and North Sultan: Tavla; the other games' rules: How to Play, Batak Guide, Chess Guide, Okey Guide, Backgammon Guide. Turkish version: Pişti Rehberi.
1. Cards, players and the deal
- A standard 52-card deck (no jokers). The jack (vale, bacak, oğlan) is shown as J.
- One on one (Tekli): two players face each other. Partners (Eşli): four players; the two sitting opposite each other are a team.
- The server shuffles and deals; there is no cut.
- Four cards go to the middle: three face down and the top one face up. If the face-up card is a jack, it goes under the deck and the next card is turned instead (the pile never opens with a jack).
- Every player gets four cards. When all hands are empty, four more each are dealt from the deck (none to the middle): 6 deals per hand one on one, 3 with partners.
- The player after the dealer plays first; the deal passes on one seat every hand.
2. Play
- On your turn you play one card from your hand onto the pile in the middle. In the app: tap a card and tap it again, double-tap it, or drag it upwards.
- If your card has the same rank as the top card of the pile (suit doesn't matter, e.g. an 8 on an 8), you take the whole pile.
- A jack takes any pile. A jack played on an empty table takes nothing and starts a new pile.
- A card that doesn't take the pile stays on top and the turn passes to the next player.
- The three face-down cards go to whoever takes the pile first; only that side gets to see them.
- At the end of the hand, the cards left on the table go to the side that last took the pile.
3. Pişti
| Situation | Points |
|---|---|
| Taking a pile of one single card with a card of the same rank (pişti) | 10 |
| Taking a lone jack with a jack (jack pişti) | 20 |
- Taking a lone card that is not a jack with a jack is not a pişti: you take the pile but score no pişti.
- A pişti made with the last card of the hand does not count; the card still takes the pile.
- A pişti is announced at the table with a "PİŞTİ!" flourish and listed separately on the hand's score sheet.
4. Scoring (every hand)
| Card / situation | Points |
|---|---|
| Each ace | 1 |
| Each jack | 1 |
| Two of clubs (2♣, sinek ikilisi) | 2 |
| Ten of diamonds (10♦, karo onlusu) | 3 |
| The side that took the most cards | 3 (on a tie — 26-26 one on one — nobody scores it) |
| Pişti / jack pişti | 10 / 20 |
- The cards are worth 16 points per hand (13 card points + 3 for the most cards), plus the pişti made in that hand.
- With partners, the two partners' cards and pişti count together; the team's points are written to both partners.
5. Match
- A match ends after the hand in which a side reaches 101 points (151 can also be chosen in private games and practice). The side with the highest total at the end of that hand wins. If both sides pass the target with equal totals, one more hand is played.
- On staked tables the pot (virtual chips) goes to the winner after the table commission (5% for regular members, 3% for VIP members); with partners it is shared by the two players of the winning team. Virtual chips have no monetary value and cannot be transferred between players.
- Pişti matches count towards North Sultan: Pişti's own statistics (matches played and won, hands won, pişti made), Sultan Points (SP), weekly league and tournaments; level/XP is shared in your North Sultan account.
6. Game types and virtual chips
| Type | Opponent | Stake |
|---|---|---|
| Practice | the computer: Easy, Medium or Hard (one on one or partners) | none, free; no internet needed |
| Quick Play | players waiting in the queue | none |
| Lounges | players who want to play in the same lounge | virtual chips |
| Private game | friends you invite (101 or 151) | never staked |
- In the lobby you choose Tekli (one on one) or Eşli (partners); matchmaking follows your choice.
- In the lounges the stake per player is 500, 2,500, 10,000, 50,000 or 250,000 virtual chips (Kahvehane, Kapalıçarşı, Saray Bahçesi, Has Oda, Divan-ı Hümayun), per match. To sit at a lounge your balance must be at least 10 times the stake. Has Oda is open to female players and VIP members.
- To sit at a staked lounge you must be signed in, have accepted the current Terms of Use, not be on a break or self-exclusion and stay within your monthly spending limit (shared by all North Sultan games).
- Same opponent again (one on one): the 4th and later staked one-on-one matches between the same two accounts within 24 hours count as unstaked: the stakes are refunded, SP does not change and no tournament points are written. This rule prevents collusion and chip transfers.
7. Time and auto-play
- You have 20 seconds per card.
- If you are handling your cards when the time runs out, up to 60 seconds in total per match can be added automatically in 15-second steps.
- If the time runs out, the computer chooses and plays your card so the game can go on.
- If your connection drops, your seat is held for you for a while (about 45 seconds); if you don't come back, or you leave the table, a bot takes your seat and finishes the match for you. Leaving a staked match counts as losing it.
8. Bots
- On public tables, empty seats may be filled after about 6 seconds with computer-controlled players ("bots") so nobody waits long. A bot may also take the seat of a player who leaves. To keep the atmosphere of the table, bots are not individually labelled.
- Bots play by the same rules; they cannot see or influence the deal and do not know other players' hands or the cards in the deck. They use only their own cards, the face-up cards in the middle and cards that have been openly seen in the game.
- Against people, a bot that is far ahead in the match may now and then play at an easier level; this only affects which card the bot chooses — the deal is never adjusted.
- Bots never win anything of real value; virtual chips a bot wins are not passed to any real person and leave the game. Bots are not used to push purchases.
- In private games with your friends, empty seats are filled with bots only if you ask for it.
9. Chat, voice chat and cosmetics
- Table chat reaches only the players at that table; quick phrases (Hello, Pişti!, Good game, Congratulations) are available. In voice chat everyone can listen and VIP members can speak; voice chat is not recorded. Rules: Community Rules.
- Card backs and the frames shared by all games only change how things look; they do not affect the deal or the chance of winning.
10. Fair play
Cards are shuffled and dealt on the server from a cryptographically secure random seed; no player or member of our staff can influence the outcome of a hand. Cheating, collusion (e.g. passing card information through chat or other channels; partners included) and chip dumping are prohibited: Terms of Use, Community Rules.
