This guide summarises the rules used in North Sultan: Bilardo Sultan. The game has two billiards disciplines: 8-ball (pocket table) and three-cushion (Üç Bant, a carom table without pockets; free carom and one-cushion are also played in practice and at the Trick Shot Table). The balls move with a real physics engine that is the same for everyone; the rules are applied automatically and equally by that engine, and in online matches our server computes every shot. There are no stakes in Bilardo Sultan: nothing is put up in any match, nothing is paid to the winner and the loser loses nothing. No real money or anything of monetary value can be won in the game. The North Sultan account is for people aged 13 and over; players under 18 need a parent's permission for in-app purchases. North Sultan: Bilardo Sultan uses the same North Sultan account as North Sultan: 101 Okey, North Sultan: Batak, North Sultan: Satranç, North Sultan: Okey, North Sultan: Tavla, North Sultan: Pişti, North Sultan: Saray Topu and North Sultan: Sultan Blast; for the rules of the other games see the How to Play, Batak Guide, Chess Guide, Okey Guide, Backgammon Guide, Pişti Guide, Saray Topu Guide and Sultan Blast Guide. Turkish version: Bilardo Rehberi.
1. Taking a shot
- Aim: slide a finger on the table to turn the cue; the İNCE AYAR (fine-tune) wheel on the right changes the angle in very small steps.
- Spin: tap the cue-ball medallion at the top right and choose where the tip meets the ball (above centre = follow, below = draw, the sides = side spin). The choice stays inside the ring where the cue cannot miscue.
- Power: pull the cue back on the ÇEK strip on the left and let go; the further you pull, the harder the shot. Changed your mind? Slide the cue up and the shot is cancelled.
- The aim guide shows where the cue ball will first make contact and (depending on the mode) a short line for the object ball's and the cue ball's direction. Its length depends on the mode and the table and is the same for everyone at that table: ranked 8-ball up to the first contact, 25 cm for the object ball, 12 cm for the cue ball; ranked three-cushion only up to the first contact; longer in the first Trick Shot chapters and in practice. No item, membership or purchase changes the aim guide, aim, power or spin.
- Left-handed mode and a longer shot clock are in the settings; balls are also told apart by numbers and patterns that suit colour-blind players.
2. Physics: same shot, same result
- Balls slide, then roll; follow, draw and side spin change their path; spin narrows or widens the angle off a cushion; on thin cuts the object ball is slightly "thrown"; with side spin the cue ball deflects a little. All of this is computed with the same physics rules for everyone.
- The computation is deterministic: the same shot input (angle, power, spin, cue-ball position) gives exactly the same result on every device and on the server. No hidden randomness is added to the outcome of a shot. Randomness is used only for the order of the balls in the 8-ball rack and for who starts; in online matches the server decides these.
- After every shot the TEKRAR (replay) button lets you watch the last shot again.
3. 8-ball
- Balls: the cue ball, solids 1–7, the black 8 and stripes 9–15. The rack is a triangle with the 8 in the middle and one solid and one stripe in the back corners.
- Break: the breaker places the cue ball in the head area (behind the head string). The break is legal if a ball is pocketed or at least four balls touch a cushion; a breaker who pockets a ball continues, otherwise the turn passes.
- A scratch on the break is a foul (see below).
- If the 8 goes down on the break it is re-spotted and the breaker continues.
- After an illegal break the next player chooses either a re-break (a new rack, they break) or to play the balls where they lie.
- Open table and groups: after the break the table is open; you may hit any ball except the 8. The first ball pocketed on a legal shot decides your group (solids or stripes); balls pocketed on the break do not decide groups.
- Turn: you stay at the table as long as you legally pocket at least one ball of your group. An opponent's ball that goes down stays down.
- Foul (your opponent gets ball in hand and places the cue ball anywhere on the table outside the pocket mouths and away from other balls): scratching the cue ball; hitting no ball; not hitting your own group first (the 8 once your group is cleared; on an open table any ball but the 8); no ball touching a cushion after the contact and nothing pocketed; a ball leaving the table (it is re-spotted); the shot clock running out.
- Finishing on the 8: once your group is cleared you call a pocket for the 8 before the shot. Pocket the 8 in the called pocket with a legal shot and you win. Pocket the 8 before your group is cleared (also on the same shot as your last group ball), in another pocket, together with the cue ball or on a foul, and you lose. Pocketing the 8 on an open table also loses.
- Match: ranked 8-ball is one rack; at a private table with a friend, a race to 2 or 3 racks can also be chosen (the break alternates).
4. Three-cushion and carom
- There are three balls: yours (white or yellow), your opponent's and the red. Each player only ever strikes their own ball.
- Point: your ball must touch both other balls and, before it touches the second one, must have touched at least this many cushions: free carom 0, one-cushion 1, three-cushion 3. Cushions before the first ball count; the same cushion may count twice; the other two balls touching each other does not count.
- Opening: the red is on the foot spot, your opponent's ball on the head spot, the starter's ball beside it. The opening shot must hit the red first, otherwise it is a foul.
- Inning and run: you stay at the table while you score (your run, seri); a miss or a foul passes the inning to your opponent. Fouls: not hitting the red first on the opening shot, a ball leaving the table (re-spotted), the shot clock running out. If the next shooter's ball is frozen against another ball, all three balls go back to the opening layout and that player plays on without the red-first requirement.
- Equalising inning: when the player who started the match reaches the target, the opponent gets one equalising inning; reaching the target in it makes the match a draw, falling short gives the starter the win. In a match with an innings limit, once both players have used their innings the higher score wins; a tie is a draw.
- Ranked "Short Three-Cushion": first to 5 points, at most 15 innings, with the equalising inning. At a private table the target (3, 5, 10, 15 or none) and the innings limit (10–30) can be chosen.
- Scoreboard: points, innings, average (points per inning) and high run. Your average and high run appear on your profile.
5. Shot clock and connection
- Online, every shot has a clock: 8-ball 30 seconds, three-cushion 40 seconds. Each player may extend their clock once by the same amount — per rack in 8-ball, per match in three-cushion. The clock starts once the balls have stopped. At a private table and offline, "Rahat süre" (relaxed time) doubles every clock.
- When the clock runs out the shot is a foul. A connected player who lets the clock run out three times in a row loses the match.
- If you lose your connection while it is your turn, your clock is held once for 20 seconds; come back within 60 seconds and you continue where you left off (even after closing and reopening the app). A player away for longer than 60 seconds forfeits the match.
- Offline modes (Versus the Computer, Trick Shots, Practice) can be paused at any time.
6. Modes
| Mode | Opponent | Connection |
|---|---|---|
| Versus the Computer | one ladder each for 8-ball and three-cushion: eight opponents in turn — Fatma Nine, Kahveci Mustafa, Hasan Efendi, Doğan Ağa, Rıza Bey, Nilüfer Sultan, Sina Hoca and Sultan Aybars, each with their own style and an increasing level | no connection needed; progress is stored on your device |
| Trick Shot Table (Hüner Masası) | no computer: complete a goal on set layouts in as few shots as you can (see section 7) | no connection needed |
| Practice | no opponent, a free table; in three-cushion the cue ball's path through the cushions can be shown | no connection needed |
| Online Ranked | a real player near your rating, 8-ball or Short Three-Cushion (see section 8) | connection needed |
| With a Friend | a friend you invite from your friends list; whoever sets the table chooses the rules, match length, aim guide and clock | connection needed |
- There are no stakes in any mode. Matches never change your shared North Sultan Gold balance.
- Beating an opponent on the computer ladder opens the next one; you can replay a lost match as often as you like. Matches against the computer do not affect your rating or rankings.
7. Trick Shot Table
- There are 60 shot puzzles in six chapters: Nişan (aim), Falso (spin), Bant (cushions), Seri (runs), Tek Bant (one-cushion) and Üç Bant (three-cushion). Each chapter teaches one skill; the last layout of every chapter is Hızır's shot (the hardest of the chapter).
- Every layout has a goal (e.g. pocket all ringed balls while the striped balls stay on the table; stop the cue ball in the gold zone; score with a set number of cushions). Complete it in the expected number of shots for 3 stars, one more for 2, two more for 1 star; beyond that the attempt ends.
- Every layout can be solved: each one is published only after the game's own physics engine has found and verified a solution. The GÖSTER (show) button plays that solution for free, then puts the balls back.
- A layout opens once the one before it has a star; a new chapter opens once five layouts of the previous chapter have a star. Günün Hüneri (the shot of the day) shows the same layout to everyone each day.
- Trick Shot stars are stored on your device; stars have no monetary value.
8. Rating, league and tournaments
- Sultan Rating (Sultan Puanı): you have a separate skill rating for 8-ball and for three-cushion (Elo-like). Only online ranked matches change it: it rises when you win and falls when you lose; how much depends on the rating difference between the two players. Your rating is shown with the ranks Çırak, Kalfa, Usta, Üstat, Şampiyon and Sultan. The Sultan Rating is never sold and no membership raises it.
- Matchmaking: the ranked queue looks for players near your rating first and widens the range after a few seconds. A computer never sits at a ranked table. If no opponent is found in about 25 seconds you are offered, clearly labelled, an unrated practice match against the house computer; it does not affect your rating, league or tournaments.
- The fourth and later ranked matches between the same two accounts within 24 hours do not count for rating, league or tournaments.
- Weekly league: ranked wins earn weekly league points; at the end of the week you move up or down a league according to your standing. Rewards are cosmetic, such as frames and titles.
- Tournaments: the daily cup, the weekly league, the weekend Three-Cushion Cup, the monthly Sultan Cup and 8-player knockouts; entry is free and rewards are in-game cosmetics only, such as titles, frames and looks; no cash or anything of monetary value is awarded: Tournament Rules.
- The leaderboard (Sultanlar Divanı) is shown separately for 8-ball and three-cushion. The computer and the house player never receive rewards, titles or league standings.
9. Chat and conduct
- In a match you can greet each other with preset phrases (e.g. "Güzel vuruş!" — nice shot, "İyi oyunlar!" — good game, "Tebrikler!" — congratulations). Free text chat is available only with your friends; you can mute a player at the table, block and report them.
- The Community Guidelines apply to usernames, profiles and friend messages.
10. Fair play
Bilardo Sultan is a game of skill; the players' shots decide the result. There is no power sold for money, no random reward boxes and no energy timers; every cue strikes the same. Cues, cloths and ball sets that can be bought or unlocked by playing are cosmetic only and change no shot. In online matches your app sends only your shot input; the server computes where the balls go and applies the rules, and both players' devices verify the same result. Cheating software, automatic aiming or playing tools, deliberately breaking the connection and collusion are prohibited: Terms of Use, Community Guidelines.
