This guide summarises the rules used in North Sultan: Saray Topu. The game is real-time 1v1 big-head football ("kafa topu"): two big-headed characters play towards two goals on a pitch in the Topkapı courtyard. The rules are applied automatically and equally to everyone by the game's physics engine; online matches are run by our server. Saray Topu has no virtual-chip stakes: no chips are put on a match, none are paid to the winner and the loser loses none. Nothing of real money or monetary value can be won. The North Sultan account is for people aged 18 and over. North Sultan: Saray Topu uses the same North Sultan account as North Sultan: 101 Okey, North Sultan: Batak, North Sultan: Satranç, North Sultan: Okey, North Sultan: Tavla and North Sultan: Pişti; the other games' rules: How to Play, Batak Guide, Chess Guide, Okey Guide, Backgammon Guide, Pişti Guide. Turkish version: Saray Topu Rehberi.
1. The pitch and the players
- Every match is played by two players facing each other; each defends their own goal in one half of the pitch and tries to score in the rival's goal.
- The goals stand at both ends of the pitch. The crossbar is solid: the ball bounces off it, can rest on it and rolls back into play. The ball also bounces off the side walls and the grass.
- Every character has a big head, a body and one foot. You can kick the ball, head it and stand on your rival's head.
2. Controls
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| ◀ ▶ (run) | runs left and right; you can slide between the two buttons without lifting your thumb |
| ZIPLA (jump) | jumps; headers carry further forward while you are in the air |
| VUR (kick) | shoots: a low ball rises, a ball at mid height flies flat, a ball at your sole is chipped |
| KUDRET (power) | uses your character's power when the Kudret bar is full (see section 4) |
- The buttons can be used together (e.g. jumping and kicking while running). You can swap which side the buttons sit on in the settings.
- On a computer: the arrow keys or A/D run, ↑/W jumps, Space/S/↓ kicks, E/Shift uses the Kudret, Esc pauses an offline match.
3. Match and time
- Regular time is 90 seconds (60 or 75 seconds in the first Palace Cup matches). Whoever has scored more at full time wins.
- If the score is level, a Golden Goal (Altın Gol) is played: the first goal within 30 seconds wins the match. If there is still no goal, the match is a draw.
- After every goal there is a short celebration; then both players return to their starting places and the ball drops at the centre, nudged slightly towards the side that conceded.
- Offline matches (Palace Cup, Quick Match) can be paused. Online matches cannot be paused; if you leave the app, the match goes on.
4. Kudret
- The Kudret bar fills over time (about 2.6 points per second) and with every touch of the ball (5 points); at 100 it turns from blue to gold and can be used.
- A ball power fires at once if the ball is near you; otherwise it stays armed for 3.5 seconds and fires on your next touch.
| Kudret | Effect |
|---|---|
| Ateş Topu (fireball) | a flat, very fast blazing shot. A rival in its path staggers briefly (about 0.9 s) and the ball carries on, slightly slower |
| Kavisli Şut (curler) | the ball lobs over your rival and glides down just inside the goal about a second later |
| Yıldırım (thunderbolt) | the ball rises to the sky halfway to the goal, then strikes down on the goal. A rival in line staggers, but the ball rebounds off them |
| Dev Kafa (giant head) | your head grows for 6 seconds; it also stops incoming Kudret shots |
5. Characters
- There are eight characters: the Sultan (Yıldırım), the Yeniçeri / Janissary (Ateş Topu), the Pehlivan / Wrestler (Dev Kafa), the Bostancıbaşı (Kavisli Şut), the Sipahi (Ateş Topu), the Kaptan-ı Derya / Grand Admiral (Kavisli Şut), Haseki Sultan (Dev Kafa) and the Sadrazam / Grand Vizier (Yıldırım).
- Every character has exactly the same speed, jump, kick strength and body size; only the Kudret differs. The Kudret powers are measured and balanced in computer-vs-computer matches.
- The Sultan, the Janissary and the Wrestler are open from the start. The other five join your roster when you beat them in the Palace Cup. VIP members have the whole roster; VIP or any purchase never changes a character's strength.
6. Game types
| Type | Opponent | Connection |
|---|---|---|
| Saray Kupası (Palace Cup) | six computer rivals in turn: Bostancıbaşı and Sipahi (Easy), Kaptan-ı Derya and Haseki Sultan (Medium), the Sadrazam and, in the final, the Sultan (Hard) | no internet needed; your progress is kept on your device |
| Hızlı Maç / Antrenman (Quick Match / Practice) | the computer: Easy, Medium or Hard; 90 seconds | no internet needed |
| Çevrimiçi Düello (Online Duel) | another player waiting in the queue (see section 7) | internet needed |
| Arkadaşla (with a friend) | a friend you invite from the Friends screen, private match | internet needed |
- No game type has virtual-chip stakes. Matches never change your shared North Sultan chip balance.
- In the Palace Cup, beating a rival moves you on to the next rival on the road to the cup and adds the beaten rival to your roster. You can replay a lost match as often as you like.
7. Online matches, the house player and connection
- In an online match both players' button inputs are sent to the server, which computes the ball and the players under the same physics for both sides. Your app predicts the movement for a smooth picture and corrects it to the server's result.
- In an Online Duel, if no other player is found within about 7 seconds, a computer-controlled house player ("bot") takes the other half of the pitch (Medium or Hard) so you don't wait. To keep the atmosphere, the bot is not labelled individually. It plays under the same rules and with the same character attributes.
- A bot never joins a private match you set up with a friend.
- If your connection drops, your place is held for about 20 seconds; come back within that time and you carry on. Otherwise the house player finishes your half and your opponent plays their match to the end.
- Bots never win anything of real value and are not used to push purchases.
8. Cheers and conduct
- There is no free-text chat in online matches; only preset cheers can be sent (Maşallah!, Helal olsun!, Az kaldı!, Bu daha başlangıç!, Güzel oyundu, Eyvah!), at most one every 2.5 seconds.
- Usernames, profiles and friend messages fall under the Community Guidelines.
9. Fair play
Saray Topu is a game of skill and sport; the result is decided by the players' moves. There is no power sold for money, no random reward box and no energy timer. In online matches the server computes the result; cheat software, automated play tools, deliberately disrupting the connection and collusion are prohibited: Terms of Use, Community Guidelines.
