MeşkhaneMusic for Children
No ads. No tracking. It really teaches.
In Meşkhane, the palace music school on a spring morning, your child learns to play the piano with birds, to read notes and to play Turkish rhythms on a darbuka. Every lesson is a game of a few minutes: first the teacher plays, then you play together, then the child plays alone. There is no losing, no countdown and no cross face.

What does Meşkhane teach?
Each room is one instrument and one skill. As the child grows, they move from room to room; their progress stays on the device.

Kuşlu Piyano (Bird Piano)
Open · ages 4–9
Finding your way on the keyboard, the notes Do to Si, five fingers, both hands. The birds on the branches slowly turn into a real staff, treble clef and bass clef: the child learns to read real notation.

Dum Tek
Open · ages 4–10
A steady beat, tempo, patterns and Turkish usul cycles: sofyan, düyek, çiftetelli, aksak 9/8 and curcuna. The centre of the darbuka is "düm", the rim is "tek"; beads on the usul ring show the rhythm.

Flüt Meşki (Flute)
In preparation · ages 8–11
The school recorder: breath, fingering and school songs. The room is being prepared; in the app it shows as a sleeping door and cannot be bought.

Saz Çırağı (Saz)
In preparation · ages 7–11
Bağlama and cura: frets, the plectrum, folk songs and the colours of the makams. The room is being prepared; in the app it shows as a sleeping door and cannot be bought.
Every note has a bird, every bird a colour
Colour always comes with shape and position: colour-blind children recognise the note by the kind of bird and its place on the staff. In later stages colours can be switched off in the Parents' Corner; the goal is reading black notation.

How does a lesson go?
The traditional meşk way: the master plays, the apprentice repeats. A lesson takes 3–6 minutes; the day's path is two or three lessons.
- 1
Listen
The teacher plays and sings the phrase; the right keys and beads light up to show the way.
- 2
Together
The child plays along with the teacher at a slow tempo. Wrong notes are not marked; the teacher patiently waits for the right one.
- 3
Alone
The guides disappear and the child plays alone, with gentle feedback on every note.
- 4
Remember
Skills come back at spaced intervals; anything forgotten is repeated with an easy step.
No losing: after three tries the teacher shows it again and, if needed, offers an easier step. There are no lives, timers or countdowns. Free Play is always open and unlimited.

Trust: no data collected
Meşkhane neither asks for nor collects personal data from the child or the parent. Everything the child plays stays on the device.
Privacy in short
- No account: no sign-in, email, phone or date of birth. No North Sultan account is used.
- Stays on the device: nickname, chosen animal buddy, progress, stars, practice time and settings are stored only on your device (and in its own backup).
- No microphone or camera: this version uses neither and asks for neither permission.
- No tracking: no advertising, analytics, advertising ID, crash reporting or social sign-in software (SDKs).
- Anonymous purchase check: our server keeps only a one-way hash of the store transaction number, the product and the expiry date; no identity, device information or IP address.
- Delete everything: the button in the Parents' Corner, or deleting the app, removes everything.
Parental gate
Purchases, restoring purchases, settings, the daily time limit, external links (website, email, store) and the Parents' Corner itself are behind a parental gate.
To open it, hold the button for 2 seconds, then type a number written in words (such as "kırk yedi", forty-seven) as digits. A child who cannot read yet cannot guess it; after three wrong tries the gate locks for a minute.
When the child taps a locked lesson, the teacher only says "ask a grown-up to open this": a price, a buy button or a countdown never appears on a child's screen.

Parents' Corner
The locked button at the top right of every child screen. Grey-cream, calm and for grown-ups only.

Practice report
A weekly summary (Meşk Defteri): lessons done, skills learned, practice time, the child's favourite piece and a "practise this next" tip. All computed on the device.

Daily time
Off, 15, 30 or 45 minutes. At the limit the app finishes the phrase and moves to a calm "a new song is waiting tomorrow" screen.

Profiles and settings
Separate profiles for several children; colour-free (real) notation, note names on the keys, rhythm tolerance by age group, rhythm latency setting, vibration and reduced motion; restore purchases and "Delete everything".

The first two stages of Bird Piano and Dum Tek, the first level of every listening game and unlimited Free Play. There is no free trial; the free part never turns into a paid one by itself.

Parents' questions
What age is it for?
The content is made for ages 4–10. Bird Piano and Dum Tek can be played from age 4; before age 7 no button depends on reading, and every instruction is voiced (in Turkish). The app is published in the App Store Kids category (ages 6–8 band) and under the Google Play Families policy.
Does it really teach?
Yes. The lessons follow a curriculum: each small skill (for example "read Mi on the staff" or "play düyek at 70 beats per minute") is tracked separately, the next lesson is chosen from skills whose prerequisites are learned, and what was learned comes back at spaced intervals. By the end of Bird Piano the child reads real notation.
Do I need to create an account or give any information?
No. There is no account, sign-in, email or phone. For the child you only choose a nickname and an animal buddy; they stay on the device.
Does it use the microphone?
No. This version uses neither the microphone nor the camera and asks for neither permission; the child plays the on-screen piano and darbuka. If a room that listens to a real instrument is added later, the sound will only be processed on the device in real time, never recorded and never sent; the privacy notice will be updated before that.
Does it need the internet?
Lessons and Free Play work offline. The internet is used only to confirm that a purchase is valid and, if you wish, to send a bug report from the Parents' Corner.
Can my child buy something by accident?
The purchase screen is only in the Parents' Corner behind the parental gate. On top of that, the store's own confirmation (Apple "Ask to Buy", Google Family Link, password or Face ID) is required.
How do I cancel the subscription?
The "Manage / cancel subscription" link in the Parents' Corner takes you to the App Store or Google Play subscription settings, where it is cancelled with one tap. When the subscription ends, the child's progress stays on the device.
Will progress be lost if I change phones?
Progress can move to a new device with your device's own backup (iCloud or Android backup). Purchases come back with "Restore purchases" in the Parents' Corner using the same Apple or Google account.
Whose songs are they?
The songs are the studio's own compositions or studio arrangements of anonymous and public-domain children's tunes and folk songs. Lyrics are chosen for the children's age.
I have a problem, who do I write to?
Write to [email protected]. You can also send an optional written bug report from the Parents' Corner; it carries only the text you write, the app version and the platform.
